 One lakh Riyal(SR 15000 to100,000) fine, in case, if a passenger in your car doesn't have Iqama.

Who is responsible to check Iqamas?

 

It is the duty of every person, every taxi driver, bus driver, car driver, or even private drivers (like you)who are involved at any point in time in transporting the passenger from one place to another to check their iqamas.

 

These passengers can be your friends and family, customers who are traveling with you. 

 

What if they do not have the Iqama?

In case if they don’t have Iqama or the iqama they are having with them got expired even a day ago, you can not provide them transportation legally. 

You should apologize to them because if you involve In such an activity then you can have heavy penalties for transporting such illegal passengers from one place to another place.

A resident without iqama will be considered as an illegal resident. 

Penalties on the transporter of illegal residents

1: In the first instance, the carrier fine is fifteen thousand (SR 15,000) and one-month imprisonment(jail).

2: For the 2nd instance fine is thirty thousand riyals (SR 30,000) and three months of imprisonment(jail).

3: The third time, the fine is 1,000 riyals and six months imprisonment.

4: If the carrier is abroad, his stay will be terminated and he will be deported after requesting a fine against him.

5: Means of land transport should be confiscated in case of repeating violation, whether such means we're owned by the carrier, the accomplice, or the colluding party. 

 

It is important to note that these fines and other provisions will only apply if the foreigner is illegally residing in Saudi Arabia.

 

If anyone has a valid Iqama but he does not have Iqama at the time of checking then it is a different case. He will be fined SR 1,000 to 3,000 in case. 

Recommended: SR 3,000 fine and deportation for not carrying Iqama.

 

How to avoid such situations?

If you are a professional driver, you can check the residency(iqama) of expats moving from one city to another.

 If you are not a private driver, it is recommended to at least ask all the people you are transporting about the authenticity and availability of your stay, please keep in mind that a small  Mistakes can lead to deportation.

This sounds immoral, but I recommend that you do not hesitate to take to the streets in Saudi Arabia.
