Saudi Arabia, Qatar reopen air, sea, and land borders: Kuwaiti Foreign Minister
Riyadh - Kuwait's Foreign Minister Ahmed Nasser al-Sabah said Monday that Saudi Arabia and Qatar are ready to reopen their air, land, and sea borders.
The Kuwaiti minister said on state television that the move, which would take effect on Monday evening, was part of an agreement reached between the two countries.
The announcement came on the sidelines of a Gulf summit in Al-Wala.
According to the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister, the agreement, in consultation with the Al-Awla Declaration, will be signed on Tuesday at the summit, and a new leaf will be turned in relations between the Gulf.
Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabah indicated that this announcement would pave the way for the next summit for reconciliation between the Gulf countries besides Egypt.
Meanwhile, Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thanawi will lead his country's delegation to the 41st GCC summit on Tuesday, according to local media.
The Emir of Qatar will attend the summit for the first time since the start of the Gulf crisis in 2017.
