SR 100,000 fine if a passenger in your car doesn't have Iqama

One lakh Riyal(SR 100,000) fine, in case if a passenger in your car doesn't have Iqama.

Who is responsible to check Iqamas?

It is the duty of every person, every taxi driver, bus drivers , car drivers, or even private drivers (like you)who are involved at any point in time in transporting the passenger from one place to another to check their an iqamas.

These passengers can be your friends and family, customers who are traveling with you

What if they do not have the Iqama?

In case if they don’t have Iqama or the iqama they are having with them got expired even a day ago, you can not provide them transportation legally

You should apologize to them because if you involve In such a activity then you can have heavy penalties for transporting such illegal passengers from one place to another place. A resident without iqama will be considered as an illegal resident

Penalties on the transporter of illegal residents

1: First instance, the carrier fine is fifteen thousand (SR 15,000) and one-month imprisonment(jail).

2: For the 2nd instance fine is thirty thousand riyals (SR 30,000) and three months of imprisonment(jail).

3: For the 3rd instance fine is One lakh Riyals (SR 1000,000) and six months of imprisonment(jail).

4: In case the carrier is an expatriate resident his Iqama shall be terminated and he shall be deported to his country after the application of the penalty was taken against him.

5: Means of land transport should be confiscated in case of repeating violation, whether such means we're owned by the carrier, the accomplice or the colluding party

It is important to mention here that this penalty and other  provisions will apply only if the expatriate is living in Saudi Arabia illegally.

If anyone has a valid Iqama but he does not have Iqama at the time of checking then it is a different case. He will be fined with SR 1,000 to 3,000 in case. Recommended: SR 3,000 fine and deportation for not carrying Iqama.

How to avoid such situations?

You should check the Iqama of the expatriates you are transporting from one city to another if you are a professional driver.

If you are not a private driver, it is suggested to at least ask all persons you are transporting about the validity and accessibility of your Iqama please keep these things in mind that your small mistake can cause deportation

it looks like immorality but it is my advice not to pick hitchhikers from roads in Saudi Arabia.
